Venezia Santa Lucia Rail Station is linked to a majority of the main Italian and European cities.

Santa Lucia Station (Venezia Santa Lucia) is the only railway station on the island of Venice. Mestre Station is located on the mainland, and is located on the other side of the Ponte Della Liberta (Freedom Bridge).

Some trains do not travel all the way to Santa Lucia station, stopping instead at Mestre Station. To get to Venezia Santa Lucia from Mestre Station is about a 10 minute train ride, with trains traveling every 5 to 10 minutes.

From Venezia Santa Lucia station you can reach your destination in town either by walking, or by public transportation, the vaporetto (or Venice Water Bus). The vaporetto lines stop just outside the station, and tickets can be purchased at any ticket office or directly from the boat conductor.

In comparison to the more historical buildings surrounding Venice Train Station, Venezia Santa Lucia is a fairly modern structure. It was built on the site of the Santa Lucia church, and that is also how it derives it's name.

Venice stretches across 110 small islands located in the marshy Venetian Lagoon, situated along the Adriatic Sea in the northeast part of Italy. The saltwater lagoon, where Venice sits, stretches along the shoreline between the mouths of the Po, to the south, and the Piave, to the north, Rivers.

How to get from Venezia Santa Lucia to Venice Marco Polo Airport?

You can get from Venice Lucia Station to the airport by catching the bus - Azienda Transporti Veneto Orientale (ATVO) located at the Venice Piazzale Roma (just SW of the Station). Buses run every 40 minutes between 5 am to 8:50 pm with the trip taking 30 minutes at a cost of 5 euro (one way) and 9 euro (return). You can find more information and a timetable at the ATVO site.
